The Bill Turner Cup is a school football competition with participation of over 800 school teams from NSW, Qld, ACT and Victoria, with all players 15 years and under.
The competition is a knockout format with early round matches starting in Term 1. IN its 40th year, the TGS team competed against Kawana in what was a very tense semi-final, winning 2-1 and securing a spot in the Final. Up against Palm Beach Currumbin, the match was a hard fought affair with the end of normal time having the scores locked at 1-1. This led to extra-time being played in which a player from each team ‘drops off’ every five minutes. Dylan Proctor was awarded a penalty in the final moments and duly scored giving TGS the State Title. The team will now compete in the National Competition in Newcastle for the Cup’s 40th Anniversary. Best of luck to the players involved and thank you to the staff for their continued efforts in preparing the team.
