Cricket: Round 2 Wrap & IGS preview

Dear Cricket Community,

As you would be aware, round two was our ‘bye’ weekend and as such our 1st XI played their 66th annual Tom Allen Memorial Trophy fixture against Downlands College on Mills Oval. I’d like to congratulate our 1st XI for their dominant 9 wicket victory. A special mention must go to Harry Meiklejohn who scored 51 not out in his 1st XI debut. Congratulations, Harry.

I’d also like to thank all boys and coaches for their efforts in our ‘bye’ weekend with their internal fixtures and alternate program.

This weekend TGS take on Ipswich Grammar School in Round 3. Given the size of the IGS Cricket program, we have 15 teams who are playing internal or supplementary fixtures so it’s extremely important boys are vigilant in checking draws, bus times, etc. As per usual, the round 3 draw will be posted to the SAA website by Thursday evening.

This week has been another busy week, however all sides have managed to train well in extremely warm conditions.

Please note that due to the memorial service taking place on Friday, 15 February the Wicket Keeping specialist session has been cancelled but will resume next week.

I wish all teams the best of luck against their respective opponents.

Play hard and play fair.

Yours in Cricket,

Ben Schuhmacher
Director of Cricket
