Cricket: Round 8 wrap v Churchie

Dear Cricket Community,

The penultimate round against Churchie was another wet day of Cricket which saw 9 cancellations across our GPS fixtures. Of the 14 matches in the senior school that proceeded, TGS were victorious in 12 – a cracking result. In more good news, our 1st XI bounced back following two consecutive losses and earned themselves a bonus point in their 6 wicket victory against their East Brisbane opposition.

Another performance worth a mention was from our 8C side who remain undefeated after an absolute nail biter on Saturday morning. Batting first, TGS 8C were bowled out for 59 and after a Vince Lombardi-esque speech by coach Mr Clayton Lachmund, the boys ended up bowling ACGS 8C out for 57 to remain unbeaten with one match to play! Well done boys!

In such a dominant weekend, there were some extremely impressive performances across the board.

Congratulations to the following boys on taking 4 or more wickets/taking a hat trick or registering half centuries:

Mitch Doolan (1st XI) – 65 off 78 balls

Matt Watson (1st XI) – 50 off 82 balls

Hamish Cameron (2nd XI) – 51 off 74 balls

Lachlan Smith (2nd XI) – 71 off 86 balls

Angus Davey (4th XI) – 107 not out 31 balls (Supplementary Fixture – ineligible for Player of the round)

Pat McKay (3rd XI) – 51 off 30 and 2 for 13 off 3 overs

George Wunsch (11A) – 59 off 63

Joseph Wood (11A) – 5 for 18 off 7 overs – Player of the round

Charles Kibble (8C) – 4 for 16 off 2.4 overs

Angus Thompson (7A) – 4 for 19 off 6 overs

Cooper Webster (7A) – 67 off 121 balls

Congratulations, men.

We currently have 9 players who have scored 200 or more runs and 9 players have taken 10 or more wickets. This is a massive improvement on 2018.
