Cricket – Round 5 wrap

Dear Cricket Community,

Round 5 returned mixed results as we took on Cricket heavyweight, The Southport School. Of 20 matches, we were victorious in 9.

There were some extremely impressive team and individual performances throughout the round.

We have 5 sides who maintained their unbeaten start to the season (7D, 8B, 8C, 8D and 10A). Most impressively were the performances of 10A who bowled out TSS for 65 and chased the total with 8 wickets in hand (Paarth Menon making an impressive 41 not out). Our 8B side were also ruthless, skittling TSS for 21 in tough batting conditions.

Individually it was Year 12 student who stole the show, taking 7 for 16 off 6 overs for our 2nd XI on the Gold Coast, while in our 5A contest, it was Alby Gailbraith who dominated with 2 for 2 off his 2 overs and 20 not out. These boys recorded a 19 run victory over TSS.

This weekend we take on Nudgee College in our annual Pink Stumps round. Given the nature of this weekend, it will be expected that boys contribute a gold coin throughout the day. There will also be pink merchandise available from the canteen and donation buckets will make their way around the grounds. Please give generously!

Thank you all – 4 big rounds to finish the season.

Yours sincerely,

Ben Schuhmacher
