Toowoomba Grammar School

Cricket Welcome and Trials Information

Dear Parents and Players,

I hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year. Welcome to those parents and students who are new to Toowoomba Grammar School.

As I am sure you all are aware, the school year commences next week which brings with it the start of the GPS Cricket Season. With approximately 400 boys registered to play, and a total of 32 teams entered, we have a busy week of trials and training sessions planned for the first week back.

Due to the shortened week, the Week One training schedule will look slightly different to rest of the season, with more information on the normal training schedule to be provided towards the end of next week. Please see the Week One trials and training schedule below with a school map attached.

All players will require the following;

  • Dressed in their TGS sport uniform (golds) with cricket whites acceptable
  • Cricket equipment – helmet included (unfortunately, we are unable to share any equipment under the GPS COVID guidelines)
  • Water bottle

To support those players who do not own any cricket equipment, the school will be offering sets of new, or near-new, kits for $50 with payment to be made through TGS Parent Lounge. The kits will include a bat, batting pads, thigh pad and batting gloves. Unfortunately, we cannot provide any helmets, cricket bags or boxes. Once purchased, collection of the kits can be made on Monday, 25 January between the hours of 1:00-1:45pm from the Indoor Nets, located on the Ground Floor of the Glen McCracken Centre.

All teams will be selected on the Thursday evening, prior to each round, and announced on the website and TGS Sports Portal.

An additional email will be sent later today outlining the process of purchasing cricket training shirts.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Kind Regards,
