Performing Arts – Toowoomba Eisteddfod

Congratulations to all those boys involved in the recent Toowoomba Eisteddfod. TGS was well represented with a large number of actors and musicians who performed many solos and duets with fantastic results.

Notable results include those below:

Chamber Strings – 1st  Secondary School Small String A Grade Ensemble

Vivace Trio – 1st Secondary String (unaccompanied) A Grade Trio/Quartet

Brass Ensemble – 1st  Secondary School Woodwind or Brass Ensemble

Wind Orchestra – 2nd  Secondary School A Grade Concert Band

String Orchestra – 2nd  Secondary School String Ensemble

Saxophone Trio – 2nd Secondary Woodwind (unaccompanied) Trio/Quartet

Jazz Band – 2nd  Secondary School Small Instrumental Ensemble

Saxophone Ensemble B – 3rd  Secondary School Woodwind/Brass/Rhythm Ensemble

Guitar Ensemble – Highly commended Secondary School String Ensemble

 

Drama: Film Making Workshop 26-28th April

TGS Old Boy, Clancy Sinnamon (09-13), will be returning to school to run a film making workshop for students in the Senior School, from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 April. Clancy completed a degree in Film and Television through Bond University and is currently employed with the Cricket Network filming the Australian Cricket Team in their matches around the globe.

Drama News

Toowoomba Grammar School boys are fortunate to be able to work with some very talented TGS Old Boys in this first term.  In Week 5, Tim Dashwood will be visiting the School to run physical theatre, stage combat, slapstick and farce workshops with both classes and TiGAA groups.  Tim is a very talented actor and stage combat director having worked professionally in theatre companies all around Australia as an actor, most recently directing the stage combat sequences for the Australian Ballet’s production of Spartacus.
